A bit of a dubious title, but a bit of a dubious story here. Quite an annoyance, but it seems that Manhunt 2 isn’t going to get a release here in the UK after all. This is after the BBFC have deemed it “would involve a range of unjustifiable harm risks, to both adults and minors, within the terms of the Video Recordings Act, and accordingly that its availability, even if statutorily confined to adults, would be unacceptable to the public” and seems a bit of a turnaround after the BBFC’s recent findings indicating they would go a lot easier on games in the future.

It’s dissapointing to say the least – heck, I don’t own a Wii or a PS2 personally, but I was looking forward to this – as visceral and gory as I’m sure it would have been I am also of the conviction that it would have once again broadend the horizons of video games as it were, pushing the boundaries of the medium and again proving that games are not purely a commodity ‘for kids’. Even worse is reading that it was getting very positive reviews from many leading magazines, and it’s a huge shame to think what it could have been. Of course, now I have to wonder if they’re going to do a Carmageddon (the only other game to recieve the same fate) and change the game somehow in order to get past the censors.

Although I dare say eyes will roll if we end up sawing apart green-blooded ‘zombies’…
