So, here I sit, listening to the strains of Green Day through Windows Media Player, blogging this exact moment to you even though its about as interesting as three quaters of an EULA. Damn, I have to stop using game anaolgies, and I wonder why I’m not understood…

Anyway, the point – the lyric mentioned in the title of this thread “Where Have All The Bastards Gone?” just came through my headphones (from “Letterbomb”, if you’re interested) and it made me think – well, enough to blog at this moment anyhow. I’m not going to be niave and pretend you didn’t hear about the London bombings yesterday, nor am I going to go into a huge spout about how wrong it is (well, not yet anyway)

However, even though I live far from the capital (almost up in almost the northen-est, if thats a word, part of England) its amazing how affected we all are by the events. Just now, somebody asked me on XFire if I was going to participate in a one minutes silence (well, a “ceasefire”) with others on XFire. Well, I agreed, and in twenty minutes time that’s what I’m going to do. Except – that’s not the point of the title, and indeed I am taking a long time to get to a point. But look around…

Yesterday evening and most of this morning there were comments everywhere that said “we will not be beaten, the terrorists will not see us be affected by this nor shall we let them win.” So, if we’re carrying on as normal, why am I sitting in a normally crowded Vent server completely and utterly alone – and in total there have been less than seven people on all day. Brush it off all you want – the Terrorists HAVE affected us, wether we want to show it or not – we can carry on with life, but the Terroists have achieved something. The pictures of Kings Cross this morning proved that. Yes, the Terrorists have made a difference – theres 50 odd less people alive that were yesterday telling their nerest and dearest “see you after work…”

Also, these terroists also managed to keep Blair away from the G8. Technically this makes it the G7, and more importantly Britain did not get their fair placement in the talks, not in my opinon anyway. Yes, we can all carry on, pretend like nothing happened – but it did. We have to get on with it, thats just the way it is. But the bastards manged something – it’s a sunny day, but the atmosphere is below zero…

There’s another reason for the lyric, and thats because, at the same time, my forums at http://www.themadgamer.co.uk/forums have been a little quiet lately, yet I don’t feel compelled to start another topic on another forum (even if it is mine) on the whole disaster…

I’m going to close with another Green Day quote, I think it speaks volumes about the whole thing, feel free to disagree…

“It’s something unpredictable, but in the end thats right. I hope you’ve had the time of your life…”
